A Contemplative Retreat

WHY?Statue WalkDear Friends:

This past weekend I attended a contemplative photography retreat held at The Bethany Springs Retreat Center in New Haven, Kentucky. The retreat was led by Kim Manley Ort who is a wonderful teacher and contemplative photographer.

I also had the opportunity to visit the The Thomas Merton Center at Bellarmine University as well as the Abbey of Gethsemani where Thomas Merton was a Trappist Monk.

One of our assignments was a Visual Listening Exercise. We hiked up a hill to the Garden of Statues where I took these photos. As I reflect on these photos, I am reminded of all the sacrifices which have been made for me so that I can continue down my contemplative journey.

I encourage you as well to reflect and give thanks for all the sacrifices which have been made for you so that you too can continue down your contemplative journey.

Namaste!

John
