About Contemplative Photography

To My Contemplative Friends:

My name is John Carr. I’ve been sharing contemplative methods with individuals for over 30 years. My journey has brought me through music, corporate America, and now, to contemplative photography. Certain individuals, experiences, spiritual directors, poets, books, artists, and what I call, spiritual awakenings, continue to guide my soul through this journey. Today I practice and teach contemplative photography. It is a blessing watching others discover their authentic self through contemplative photography.

I value a holistic approach to a contemplative life.  All and any spiritual paths which awaken a photographic passion in a contemplative way are inspirational. In fact, engaging in the art of contemplative photography is, in itself, a spiritual path.

I am primarily a self-taught photographer. I have studied photography at local colleges, attended  professional photographic seminars and workshops at the Center for Photography at Woodstock and at ICP in New York City. I continue to learn from some of the industry’s top photographers and contemplatives.

Through a contemplative approach to photography, I invite you to engage more deeply with your inner spirit, your authentic self, and discover a more rewarding, compassionate and contemplative life. Enjoy your journey!

Namaste!

John
